PRESS RELEASE
"Dead Air" Releases to DVD This October
Thriller Features Horror Veteran Bill Moseley In His First 'Hero' Role
Los Angeles, CA - August 28, 2009 -
Antibody Films and Team Cherokee Productions issued a joint press release today stating that their co-production, the long-awaited horror-thriller picture Dead Air, starring Bill Moseley and Patricia Tallman, will be released to DVD in the US and Canada this October 27th. Anthem Pictures is releasing the film, which will initially be available for purchase at www.DeadAir-Movie.com.
Dead Air, filmed during 2007 and 2008 and based on a script by Kenneth Yakkel, is described as The Howard Stern Show meets 28 Days Later, and follows the plight of a radio shock-jock (Moseley) and his crew as a massive swarm of crazed killers races through the city around them. The maniacs are themselves the victims of a terrorist-released bioweapon created by the US government, but turned against American citizens.
Director Corbin Bernsen, known for his starring roles on TV's LA Law and the current USA Network series Psych, describes Dead Air as "a cautionary tale that's really not all that unrealistic. The film's horror comes from the reality, the plausibility. We know that many countries, including our own, are experimenting with bioweapons. What happens if one of these breaks loose?"
Beyond the October retail release by Anthem, Dead Air's filmmakers are actively promoting the film at a grassroots level. Marketing plans include interactive user-generated online media and contests at DeadAir-Movie.com. "We're giving fans direct access to pieces of our unfinished film footage, so they can insert themselves as radio callers on Bill Moseley's talk show. We're expecting some very creative results. As far as we know, no one has ever done this before."
Dead Air marks a break from the norm for horror fan-favorite Bill Moseley, who has played a variety of well-loved villains, including Chop-Top in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Otis in Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. In Dead Air, he plays the hero, an outspoken radio personality and devoted family man.
Pre-orders for the DVD are beginning now at DeadAir-Movie.com. The first 1000 DVD orders will receive a free, signed, limited-edition Dead Air mini-poster, autographed by director Corbin Bernsen.
